Bank Utils for Individual Bank Users

Finding Your Own IFSC

Your IFSC is on every cheque leaf (top-left) and the first page of your passbook. Also in your banking app under Account Details. Format: SBIN0010607 = bank code (SBIN) + 0 + branch code (010607).

Sending Money to Someone New

  1. Get their IFSC and account number from a bank-printed document—not a typed message
  2. Look up the IFSC on Bank Utils to confirm it is valid and active
  3. Add as beneficiary and use penny-drop to confirm the registered name matches
  4. For amounts below ₹1 lakh, UPI is faster if they have a VPA
  5. For larger amounts, use NEFT (any amount, 24×7) or RTGS (above ₹2L, instant)

Receiving Money

To receive NEFT/RTGS, share your IFSC, account number, and bank name. To receive UPI, share your VPA. Never share your PIN, password, or OTP—these are never needed by someone sending you money.
