Frequently Asked Questions
How do I verify if an IFSC code is valid?
Enter the 11-character code in our validator. It checks the format and verifies it against the active RBI branch database.
What does a 'Valid' result mean?
It means the code follows the correct structure and currently exists in the RBI's active database for a functioning branch.
Can this tool detect fake IFSC codes?
Yes, if a code is structurally correct but doesn't exist in the official records, it will be flagged as invalid.
Does the validator check the 5th character?
Yes, it verifies that the 5th character is a '0' as per the mandatory Indian banking standard.
Can I validate MICR codes here too?
Currently, the tool focuses on IFSC validation. MICR validation is handled by our Reverse Lookup tool.
If an IFSC is valid, is the branch still active?
Generally yes, but if a branch closed very recently, there might be a short lag before the RBI deactivates the code.
Why is my 11-digit code showing as invalid?
Common reasons include: using 'O' instead of '0', typing mistakes, or using a legacy code for a merged bank.
Does this tool verify the bank account number?
No, this tool only validates the IFSC code. We never ask for or verify individual account numbers for security reasons.
Is the validation done in real-time?
Yes, the check is performed instantly against our synchronized bank database.
Can I validate codes for small cooperative banks?
Yes, our database includes all NEFT-enabled banks in India, including rural and cooperative ones.
